Profile of the Month: October, 2000
This profile was written by a student of the Sandy Bank Primary School.

Sylvia WatlerI interviewed Sylvia Watler. She was born in Flagaman, Treasure Beach over fifty years ago, but came to live in Great Bay at a tender age of five. After leaving Sandy Bank Elementary School she went to Mandeville where she did a secretarial course and went to work in Kingston. She has traveled to ten countries and resided in The Cayman Islands for twenty-one years and continued her education. Her favourite past time includes reading, listening to music, helping others and going to church. Her favourite dish is vegetable chop suey and her favourite colour is green. The most memorable time in her life was having her first child and seeing her grow and calling her Mommy.

What Miss Sylvia likes most about Treasure Beach is the people, the scenery, the sea and watching the water turn many colours, the Great Pedro Bluff, and also the God fearing seamen going to sea and coming back. She would like to see development of Treasure Beach allow more people to work and the younger generations obtaining their college education.

Her advice to tourists is the people are very friendly and there are many tourist attractions to be seen but with a guide. The sea and beach are fantastic, especially Great Bay. (There are also shrimp in the sea.) The sunset is very beautiful and lots of fun. Treasure Beach offers a quiet lifestyle, if you want that.
